A blushing bride and dashing groom were accompanied by 30 angelic bridesmaids and pages for their big day.

Sarah Whitehead and Colin Easton married at St Augustine’s Church, Huncoat on with one of the largest wedding parties Hyndburn has ever seen.

Instead of having a lavish reception and honeymoon, the couple decided to to have 16 bridesmaids and 14 pages ranging in age from 14 months to 14 years old.

Sarah, 34, said: "We wanted to do something so the children could dress up and enjoy the day. It was important to us to have a wedding that showed our love of family and friends."

Among those in the party were the couple's four children: Katie, 14, who was chief bridesmaid, Eleanor, six, Harry, five, and Sydney, 14 months.

The remainder of the party was made up of nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

The dresses were burgundy and cream. Sarah scoured eBay and other websites to get the best bargains.

The pages wore matching top-hats and tails. Sarah wore a white dress with Italian lace.

She said: "My dress was fairly simple. It was about the day and making sure all of the children have a good time."

Full-time mum Sarah and electrician Colin, aged 30, have been together for nine years after meeting at a pub.

Sarah was given away by her dad Shaun Whitehead. The best man was Colin's step-dad John Turbitt and Sarah's uncle Danny was an usher.

Colin's mum Pauline and dad John Easton also celebrated with the couple on the day.

Around 200 people were invited to the wedding.

Sarah added: "We really wanted it to be special because you only get married once so it has to be memorable."
