ACCRINGTON’S X Factor star Diana Vickers is in the final five.

But the 17-year-old is in the midst of more media controversy as reports have come out that she and fellow contestant Eoghan Quigg, 16, are dating despite Diana having a long-term boyfriend, Manchester University student Chris Jones.

Several national newspapers have published photos of the pair cuddling up inside a taxi en route to the show’s North London hideaway house.

Diana said: “Eoghan and I are really are just close friends. He is my best friend in the competition. But it is my boyfriend Chris who I am completely committed to and it is he and my family who are my key support throughout the competition.”

Chris said: “Diana and I have a really close relationship and we speak every day. I am not threatened by her friendship with Eoghan and I will continue to support her every week at the studio.”

On Saturday night’s show Diana impressed judges with her performance of Take That‘s Patience.

Judge Louis Walsh said: “Diana, that is my favourite Take That song and what I liked about it, you made it your own; you didn’t just copy the original.”

Danni Minogue said: “Diana, you look the best that you have ever looked tonight, fantastic. It was so nice to see you happy at the end of the performance.”

A video-reel shown just before Diana’s performance featured Take That‘s Gary Barlow and Mark Owen rehearsing with her.

Gary said he would sign Diana to a recording contract if Simon Cowell didn‘t.

But Simon responded: “We will not be accepting Gary Barlow’s kind offer for a recording contract. Leona has done fine with me, thank you Gary.”
