A MUM-of-two says a visit to the hairdresser’s ruined a family holiday to celebrate her son’s recovery from pneumonia.

Donna Taylor, 26 of Banbury Close, Accrington, booked to have her hair done at the Plus Two salon in Abbey Street, Accrington, after hearing good reports from friends.

She left the salon satisfied with her new, radiant red hair.

But she claims that was the last time she enjoyed her new look because when she washed it red dye leaked everywhere.

Housewife Donna said: "I have been dyeing my hair for 10 years and nothing like this has ever happened before.

"From the first time I washed it, I knew something was wrong. The water was just blood red. Dye leaked all over my towels and clothes and that isn’t right."

Donna had booked her family a week’s holiday in Wales to celebrate coming through an especially difficult year.

Her four-year-old son Daniel was diagnosed with pneumonia and had to stay in hospital for a month.

And during all this Donna, whose family lost a close relative, gave birth to Kc-Mae, who is now 23 weeks old.

Dye was still leaking from her hair more than two weeks after she had it coloured and she claims it ruined her long-awaited holiday as:

  • She was not allowed to go swimming with her children in case the dye contaminated the pool.
  • She couldn’t go out if it was raining in case her hair got wet.
  • All the new clothes she had bought for the holiday were ruined despite her best efforts to avoid contact with the dye.

Donna, said: "The holiday was an absolute shambles.

"I was so worried I called the salon while on holiday to ask why it was still leaking.’’

Scott Evans, Donna’s partner, also called the salon.

He said: " I spoke to the manager who told me that he had spoken to his insurance company and we could not make a claim.

"He told me that he would refund the cost of the colour if we signed a disclaimer saying no mistakes had been made by the salon."

More than a month after the dye was put on, the colour is still running.

Donna said: "This is really upsetting as my hair is my pride and joy. I have lost all confidence in that salon and I will never go back."

Gordon Kenyon, owner of Plus Two, said: "I am sorry that this has not met our usual standards.

"I have offered the lady a refund on the colour work as a gesture of goodwill.

"I have been hairdressing in Accrington for 45 years and this has never happened before.

"I cannot comment on why the hair is still leaking but I can say that everything in the salon was carried out to the manufacturer’s instructions."
