A sex attacker exposed himself to a woman while she was on the phone to her mum.

The man held a finger to his lips warning the woman, in her 20s, to be quiet before flashing, police said. He then ran off after he had groped her.

The victim had been walking along what is known locally as the 'black path' on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 17 when the attack happened.

The woman had left Tesco on Eagle Street shortly after 4pm with bags in one hand and her phone in the other.

She walked along the path and noticed an Asian male walking towards her in the opposite direction as she reached the junction with Crossland Street.

Police said as she walked on the she heard footsteps behind her and turned round and saw the same man.

She became frightened so phoned her mum.

The man, described as 5ft 7 and wearing a hooded top and scarf, stopped in front of her.

The victim thought he wanted her phone and handbag. But he then made the gesture with his finger before he exposed himself and then sexually assaulted her.
