A RESTAURANT worker has been arrested in Clayton-le-Moors as part of a Home Office operation to remove failed asylum seekers from the country.

Officers from the Border and Immigration Agency were called into the Mou Tai Oriental Bar and Restaurant on Whalley Road at about 6pm last Tuesday.

A spokesman told the Observer: "I can confirm that one suspected immigration offender was arrested during the visit. This operation is an example of the work the Border and Immigration Agency undertakes every week throughout the UK to tackle illegal working."

The suspect has not been identified and the manager of the restaurant was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
