A learner driver was involved in a road traffic collision in Accrington yesterday.

The Silver Toyota she was in with her instructor collided with a Ford Focus at around 9.30am on Ribblesdale Avenue.

Firefighters had to cut the learner driver, who was in her early 30s, out of the car before she was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Crew manager Chris Archer said it wasn't a high speed collision.

He added: "We think she may have been in the middle of a driving lesson when the collision happened. We cut her out of the car and got her out on a stretcher. It happened at the junction with Marlbrough Road. Her instructor was okay."
