A young patient has been presented with a special ‘thank you’ by Baxenden Pharmacy after presenting their one millionth prescription.
Little Aoife-Kerr Eland, three, received a basket of flowers from delighted staff at the pharmacy.
The Eland family have used the pharmacy since it opened in 1995 and three generations were on hand to share Aoife’s big moment - which pharmacy manager Linda Bracewell said made the occasion ‘very special’.
Aoife, who Linda describes as ‘a real charmer’, is a regular visitor and is well known to all the staff, to whom she is not shy of chatting.
Linda said: “Thanks to the support of this community and my staff team, the pharmacy has become a focal point for health and well being in Baxenden – as well as a friendly chat.”
Linda believes that incorporating the Post Office within the pharmacy building has led to her caring staff putting even greater focus on the needs of elderly and vulnerable patient groups in the community.
The Post Office service for Baxenden could have been lost to had it not been accommodated within the pharmacy in September 2013.
Linda is now looking ahead to marking further landmarks with the Manchester Road chemists.
She said: “We are all looking forward to celebrating 20 years of service to the Baxenden community in January 2015.
“We have to think of something to top our Musical Afternoon Tea - which over 150 patients enjoyed when we had our 10th anniversary - so watch this space.”
