A fireplace had to be dismantled after a log burner caught fire.

Firefighters from Hyndburn were called to a house on Queensway in Church and spent about an hour dismantling the fireplace and putting out the fire.

Tony Spencer, watch manager, said: “The heat had transmitted to the wood inside the log burner so we had to dismantle the fireplace to make sure the fire was out properly.

“There was a lot of smoke damage but no injuries.”

The incident happened at around 10pm on Tuesday.
