Church choristers are shown in this week’s top picture.

They were snapped by former Observer photographer Garth Dawson in the 1970s.

Garth said: “The picture shows the St Mary Magdalen’s Choir on the steps of the church.

“The Rev Sunter can also be seen in the centre of the group.”

Our next photograph shows pupils at St John’s primary school in Baxenden in 1974.

Our final picture this week was taken during the First World War.

Garth said: “It shows women being given instructions to train as bus conductresses.”
