A long-serving staff member receiving an award is shown in this week’s top picture.
The ceremony was snapped by former Observer photographer Garth Dawson in 1974.
Garth said: “The picture shows a Hambledon Mill presentation to a long-serving staff member.
“Hambledon Mill is no longer with us as it has now been demolished. It was situated on the Laneside Estate in Accrington.”
Our next picture shows youngsters enjoying an Army visit in 1974.
Garth said: “The Army arrived in Accrington to give a demonstration of their equipment and are pictured with some local children.”
Our final photograph this week shows staff at Karrimor in 1974.
Garth said: “The firm was situated on Avenue Parade where it is now an office block. It produced outdoor items such as rucksacks.”
