A major designer furniture company could be set to relocate its head office to the borough.

Brand Interiors Ltd has written to Hyndburn council requesting a change of use for part of Vine Mill at Brookside Street, Oswaldtwistle.

It is hoped a potential move could bring a jobs boost to the town and the wider borough.

Bosses at the company, which has seven stores in the north of England, claim that there are ‘no other options’ in the local area which offer the ‘size and potential of Vine Mill’.

If given the go-ahead, the Colne-based firm said it is their ‘intention to ultimately relocate its head office function to the site’.

Coun Peter Britcliffe, chairman of Oswaldtwistle Area Forum and St Andrews ward councillor, said: “This is good news for Oswaldtwistle because not only will it provide jobs for people, which in turn is good for the local economy, it will also mean this building does not fall into dereliction, which is a worry for residents.”

Documents sent to Hyndburn council by said the scheme would ‘lead to job creation in the local population’ and ‘regeneration and development’ of the aged building.

A decision will be made later this year.
