An 18-year-old man was glassed in the face and arms in an early morning fallout.

The man needed more than 50 stitches following the incident, which involved several people.

Police were called to the disturbance on Elizabeth Street in Accrington at 5.10am on Monday (August 23).

They found a pool of blood with a broken glass bottle in it. The man was found suffering from 'puncture' wounds to his arms and face, thought to have been caused by a broken bottle.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and released later that day.

Following police enquiries, a grey Honda was stopped on Burnley Road. The five occupants, a 37-year-old male, a 35-year-old female, a 21-year-old female, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested in Elizabeth Street a short time later. The six people were interviewed and released on bail pending police enquiries.

DS Paul Langley of Accrington CID said: "They were quite nasty injuries, he had punctures to his arms. We would appeal for anyone on Elizabeth Street who may have seen the disturbance to come forward."
