A MAN who pledged his love in two-foot-high letters on a motorway bridge has appeared in court charged with harassing his former partner.

Peter Mooring, 32, of Whipp Avenue, Clitheroe, pleaded not guilty to harassing Kerry McKenna and was remanded on bail with conditions he does not contact Miss McKenna or go near her home in Accrington.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said his client had sent Miss McKenna flowers and text messages seeking to rekindle their romance as well as painting love messages on the motorway bridge, but said this did amount to harassment.

The messages on the bridge read: "I love you Kerry McKenna" and on the other side: "I miss you Kerry McKenna."
