Dozens of people attended the annual Great Harwood Civic Society charity market.

The event was an opportunity for groups and charity organisations to promote themselves and raise money, and included Hyndburn Stray Dogs in Need, Trinity Methodist Church, Christie Grafters, Arrod Prospects and Accrington Lions.

The event also included home-made cake and tombola stalls and was attended by Hyndburn Mayor Judith Addison and town crier Rawden Kerr.

Organisers said the market on the Town Gate was well attended and the bad weather held off until it had finished.

Lynn Wilson, Civic Society chairman, said it was a really good day.

She added: “We were trying to promote the Civic Society and what’s happening in the town and other groups were there to raise money and awareness for their organisations too.

“We felt people were interested in the information we were giving out and far more than we anticipated.”
