We have crowned the Observer’s boy and girl baby of the year, following our 2011 competition.
After two hotly contested finals, the overall winners who received the most votes were bonny Dylan Elhasham and gorgeous Ocean Tiara Newton.
Ocean, of Ferngore Avenue, Accrington is just two weeks short of her first birthday and was born at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on June 23, 2010, weighing a healthy 7lb 12 oz.
She is the child of Kelly Cartwright and Andrew Newton.
Mum Kelly, 28, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out she had won.
“My sister Nicola chose the name Ocean because a girl at her school was Polish and her name sounded like Ocean.
Dylan, who is 18 months old, is the first child of Adam and Donna Elhasham, both 28. of Sefton Close, Clayton-le-Moors.
Adam said: “We are over the moon and would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted, especially Dylan’s uncle Tom who was walking round with t-shirts saying ‘Vote for Dylan’. Also thanks to his uncle Jason and grandad Suly.”
Dylan was born on November 18, 2009 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, weighing 7lb 13 oz.

The champions will now be invited for a family photo session at Garth Dawson Studio and a framed 20in x 16in portrait.
