ACCRINGTON'S historic Fraser Eagle travel company is giving people the chance to own one of its famous coaches.

For renowned toy maker Corgi is launching limited-edition scale models of the vehicles, bearing the distinctive green, white and blue livery.

Corgi approached the company, which was founded in Accrington in 1919, because it wanted one of its Van Hool T9 coaches among its prestigious collection.

Kevin Dean, managing director of the Fraser Eagle group, said: "It was quite an honour to be approached by Corgi to have our coaches made into diecast scale models.

"Corgi wanted the Van Hool T9 in its range and considered all the companies which use them to base its design on.

"It shows just how well-respected and recognised Fraser Eagle is within the industry that it chose us."

Corgi, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has made 2010 of the Fraser Eagle models.

Adrienne Fuller, product manager for collectables at Corgi, said: "The Fraser Eagle models are part of the Corgi limited edition range, which makes them highly collectable.

"The production runs for our limited edition range are considerably lower than in previous years so the demand for these models is greater than usual, especially as this is an anniversary year."

Fraser Eagle, which sponsors Accrington Stanley FC, is now based in Padiham and has grown into a £50M group of companies specialising in replacement transport and hotel accommodation for the UK rail and airline industries.
