A nurse will be scaling dizzying heights when she takes on the Freedom trail in a bid to raise funds for an armed forces charity.

Zoe Scowcroft will be completing the equivalent of two marathons in two days as she treks across a dangerous escape route used during the Second World War.

Along with a team of nine other people, Zoe will hike the ‘Freedom Trail’ across the Pyrenees to raise money for the British Legion.

Her father-in-law Ian Entwistle has given her a £500 cheque from his company Accrington Plastics to boost her total.

He said: “I’m happy to support Zoe, the British legion do good work all across the area.

“I just want to wish her good luck. It’s a big thing she’s taking on but it’s all for a good cause.”

Admiral nurse Zoe, 32, works across the whole of East Lancashire and cares for veterans in Hyndburn.

She said: “Myself and my colleague Rachel Clarke are trekking across the Pyrenees from the South of France to Spain following an escape route that was used during the Second World War.”

Zoe, from Bolton, is hoping she and her colleague can raise £1,600 for her cause.
