MUSLIMS and Jews will join Christians to pray for peace this weekend - in a church world-famous for its links with war heroes.

The annual service to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of the Accrington Pals, a regiment raised in the town in the First World War, will include multi-faith prayers this year for the first time.

The service will be held on Sunday, starting at 3pm, in St John's Church, Accrington, where the internationally-known Accrington Pals Chapel was dedicated about 12 years ago.

The service is held annually on the Sunday nearest to the date in 1915 when the first recruits left the church for training in North Wales.
