A MOTHER from Church has appeared in court accused of stabbing her teenage son, narrowly missing his heart.

Mum-of-four Donna Lonsdale, 36, of Commercial Street, appeared before Hyndburn magistrates charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Stephen Lonsdale, 19, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at the family home in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Stephen was found lying in a bedroom by paramedics and police and taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with a serious chest wound.

He underwent surgery for a collapsed lung and needed six units of blood. Later in the week his condition was described as serious but stable.

An application for bail was refused and Lonsdale was remanded in custody to appear before Burnley Crown Court on 15 November.

She has three other sons aged 17, 15 and 14.
