A MUSICAL extravaganza took place last weekend to help raise money for a four-year-old tot given less than three months to live after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Little Ellese Mulligan-Green, who started at St Mary’s RC Primary School in Oswaldtwistle in September, was diagnosed with a high-grade glioma – the medical name for a deadly brain tumour – in June this year.

Since the residents of Hyndburn learned about her condition support has been flooding in thick and fast.

On Saturday evening more than 200 packed into Accrington Town Hall to watch four popular East Lancashire bands perform free.

The Gangways, Smallamp, Exit State and Salacious entertained the crowds and Salacious band member Alex Birtwell, who organised the event, held an auction and a raffle with prizes including gym membership at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and a Burnley Football Club ball.

The event raised a magnificent £2,025 which will be spent completely on Ellese, making her last days as special as possible.

Meanwhile, Church and Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club has also offered its support by donating £250 to help pay for possible treatment in Italy.

The fund for Ellese now stands close to £12,000.

Her mum Joanne said: "The support we have had is absolutely fantastic. People we don’t know are being so kind to us and it really means a lot to know we have their support.

"Ellese hasn’t been well enough to go back to school but she is looking forward to Christmas and has written her Christmas letter to send off to Santa.

"We are now just waiting for the hospital to release her medical records so we can send them to doctors offering alternative therapies in Italy and San Francisco.

"Now we have raised this much money it is really heartwarming to know when we need to take her for treatment we can do so without worrying about money."
