A MAN'S body was discovered on the train tracks near Church and Oswaldtwistle Station on Saturday morning.

Andrew Jackson Warner, of Haworth Avenue, Church, is thought to have been hit by a train half-a-mile from the Market Street station.

The 41-year-old father, known as Cocoa to his friends and originally from Northampton, was found at 8.30am and pronounced dead by paramedics 20 minutes later.

Shortly afterwards British Transport Police removed the body.

Spokesman Jonathan Ratcliffe said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. We are still investigating the circumstances.

"We didn't have any report of the train actually hitting a person. We only had reports of a body being found at the scene."

The body was found on the eastern line heading towards Burnley and Colne. The line was closed while investigations were carried out but re-opened at 10.50am.

Anyone with information about the death should call British Transport Police on 0800 405 040.
