EAST Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust welcomed new interim Chief Executive Diane Whittingham this week.

Ms Whittingham, who has 12 years’ experience as a Chief Executive, spent her first two days in East Lancashire meeting staff and learning more about the Trust.

She said: “I received as very warm welcome from everyone at the Trust and I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff there to make East Lancashire Hospitals a real centre of excellence.

“I know there are many challenges to face, but there are also many examples of excellent healthcare throughout the Trust. It is clear that staff are determined to pull together and tackle those challenges.”

Ms Whittingham is carrying out her role as interim Chief Executive of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust alongside her post as Chief Executive of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

In her eight years at Calderdale and Huddersfield, she has experienced the merging of two hospital trusts and made a successful Foundation Trust bid. She has previously worked in Lancashire and Manchester.
