A new inspector has taken over the policing reins at Hyndburn.

Inspector Catherine Platt takes over from Inspector Graham Lister, who has moved to the Ribble Valley.

She will undertake the role as geographic Inspector for Hyndburn responsible for the Accrington, Oswaldtwistle, Great Harwood, Clayton le Moors and Rishton areas.

The 41-year-old said she was looking forward to the new challenge.

She added: “I am pleased to be working with such a fantastic team at Hyndburn and will use the benefit of my previous experience as a geographic Inspector in north Lancashire and South Ribble as I take on my new role.

“Over the past year crime has reduced by 4.3 per cent in Hyndburn and I intend to continue the good work of Inspector Lister, with a focus on keeping crime low, keeping people safe and providing a service of the highest standard to the people who live in, work in and visit the area.”

Insp Platt joined the Constabulary in 1993 and was based in Lancaster, Morecambe and Fleetwood.

She worked in various roles including response, neighbourhood policing and the support unit before being posted to Leyland where she worked for three years.
