Nominations will open next month for Hyndburn’s first ever business awards and 16 different awards will be up for grabs.

The celebration of the success of the people, companies, charities and sole traders that make Hyndburn great will take place in June at Accrington Town Hall. There has been a terrific response so far to the Hyndburn Business Awards with sponsorship for all the award categories finalised.

Big names including Stonehouse Logic, Accrington and Rossendale College, What More UK and Emerson and Renwick, along with many more, have snapped up sponsorship packages.

Enterprising People is organising the Hyndburn Business Awards in partnership with lovelocalnetworking.

Rob Carder, from Enterprising People, said: “I am delighted with the success we have had so far with sponsors for every category. People in Hyndburn have been really receptive to the idea of having a prestigious awards ceremony to recognise and help promote the many businesses that thrive in this area.”

Local businesses are involved in all aspects of the Hyndburn Business Awards: a website is currently being put together by Plus Internet, of Accrington, where nominations will be made during April and Ellison Printing, of Rishton, who have designed the logo and are producing all the printed material.

Accrington Academy and Hollins Technology College will be involved in a design and make competition for the trophies that will be presented at the ceremony. One of the categories – Enterprising Person – is being backed by the Accrington Observer and a representative will attend the ceremony to present the award. Organisers are looking people have worked beyond their experience or job role to achieve something really enterprising.

This could be a local person or people developing a new business or project, volunteering or raising money for charity, working tirelessly for their community or someone who goes the extra mile, like the people who have helped others affected by the flooding earlier this year.

Rob said: “This will be a very important category in the competition. We know that there are unsung heroes out there whose stories deserve to be told and their enterprising and selfless work acknowledged.”

The ceremony will be on Tuesday, June 14 and is sponsored by Hyndburn Borough Council, What More UK, Ellison Printing, Plus Internet and Shooters Media.
