PROLIFIC criminals are being targeted in a high profile operation launched in East Lancashire.
Operation Titan will see officers from across Eastern Division using various tactics to disrupt serious crime and address issues such as violent crime, anti-social behaviour, vehicle crime and criminal damage.
Police will be using automatic number plate recognition systems to target travelling criminals and operational support units will be targeting drug related crime throughout the division. Neighbourhood policing officers will provide a highly visible presence to reassure people and tackle community concerns.
Chief Inspector Damian Darcy is leading the operation.
He said: “Operation Titan is Eastern Division’s long-term plan to tackle the issues which are of greatest concern to the public.
“People continue to tell us that they do not want drug dealers living among them and we know that issues such as anti-social behaviour and criminal damage can be extremely damaging to a community.
This operation is about addressing these issues and it demonstrates our determination to deal robustly with criminals.
“My message to all criminals is simple. You are not welcome in Eastern Division and if you come here to commit crime, we will target you and bring you to justice.”
If anyone has any information or is concerned about crime in their are, they are urged to contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
