Parishioners at St Mary Magdalen’s Church in Accrington are shown in this week’s top picture.
They were snapped by former Observer photographer Garth Dawson in 1979.
Garth said: “The picture shows parishioners at the church on Devonshire Street enjoying a get together with the vicar.”
Our next picture shows pupils and organisers outside Cambridge Street Methodist in 1965.
Garth said: “They are lined up and excited before the start of a sponsored walk.”
Our final photograph this week shows the last days of part of Tasker Street in Accrington in 1972. Garth said: “The site is now occupied by the Brooks Club.”
Do you recognise any of the church parishioners or the children taking part in the sponsored walk?
Why not let us know and send us your memories for our letters page?
We want to publish your old pictures. They can be from any era up to the 1990s. Please bring them to our Market Hall office or email them to email@example.com and tell us why they are important to you.
