Purse alarms have been handed to elderly residents as part of a crime prevention drive in Accrington.

Police have spoken to hundreds of residents across Hyndburn – giving them tips on how to stay safe.

PCSO Paul Crossland said: "This was part of an ongoing awareness campaign in the town after a number of successful events in the town centre.

"We wanted to speak to elderly residents about concerns they had about crime and I hope they feel safer as a result. We will continue to carry out similar initiatives in the future."

Anyone who would like a purse alarm or further crime prevention information can contact their local neighbourhood policing team on 101.
