Dozens of schoolchildren delighted shoppers with Christmas carol performances in Accrington.

Around 250 choir pupils from St Oswald’s, St Mary’s Clayton-le-Moors, St Mary’s Oswaldtwistle, St Anne’s and St Joseph’s, Sacred Heart and Mount Carmel High schools gathered at the Market Hall for a two-hour show.

All the pupils performed together singing classic hymns and were watched by dozens of family, friends, shoppers and traders.

Sue Fielding, partnership manager at Mount Carmel, said all the youngsters ‘sang beautifully together’.

She said: “This is the third successive year that the partnership of schools have entertained in the Market Hall.

“Everyone was so proud, we received lots of kind comments and it created a really nice start to the festive season. Thank you to all who supported us."
