Boiler house sheds at a popular town centre pub have been transformed into a restaurant.

Lorraine and Michael Morris, who run the Abbey Hotel on Bank Street, have launched Th’Owd Stables after converting the shed in just two months. A new disabled toilet block and outside seating area has also been created.

The couple, who have six children, have run the pub on Bank Street for eight years and wanted to try out a ‘new venture’

Lorraine said: “We decided we wanted to utilise the space and it’s gone really well so far.

“We have tried to cover everything and it’s something a bit different in the area.

“We have had brilliant feedback and it’s been absolutely fantastic. It is bringing new people into the town. The transformation is unbelievable and it is something Accrington needs.”

Four new jobs have been created and the pub runs food themed nights every day and they will take part in the Dickensian Night on December 10.

A ‘Black and White Night’ with a Michael Buble tribute will also be held on Saturday, November 28.

Tickets £7.50 including champagne and canapes.
