Police are appealing for information following the theft of a bag in Accrington.

The incident happened at the newsagents on Burnley Road at around 4.45pm on Thursday, October 11.

A worker had left his bag which contained his gym kit and around £50 in cash. And a short time later a customer left the shop with his bag.

A few days later a woman entered the store and spoke to the victim’s brother asking him whether a bag had gone missing. When the brother replied that it had, the woman said that her child had taken the bag by mistake and that she would return it later. She never did.

PC Linda Scott from Blackburn Police is appealing for information.

She said: “We have issued CCTV images of the woman we would like to speak to in connection with this incident and I would appeal to anyone who recognises her to come forward and contact the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Accrington Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
