Police are hunting three masked armed men who robbed an Altham business in a 'terrifying incident' last night.

Officers were called at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 29 after reports that three masked men had entered the Micro Peripherals unit on Shorten Brook Drive on the Altham Industrial Estate and threatened staff.

The men were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas and they are believed to have been armed with knives and metal bars which they used to threaten staff.

Police said there were three staff in the premises at the time and although they were shocked, no-one was injured.

The robbers stole two pallets of electronic items of unknown value and left in a large white van.

Around an hour later a group of men was seen on Roman Way in Preston unloading a large white van and transferring items to a smaller white van, believed to be a Renault, before they made off.

Detectives are now looking at various lines of enquiry, including checking any CCTV and trying to trace the vehicles involved.

Det Sgt Eric Halford, of East CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for those involved but thankfully no-one was hurt.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information or who witnessed anything, including any suspicious activity involving the two vehicles mentioned, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information call police on 101 quoting log number 1123 of Wednesday, October 29.
