A CHURCH man died instantly after being hit by a train in Oswaldtwistle this week.
The 33-year-old, whose name has not yet been released, was struck by the 9.54am Blackpool South to Colne train at about 11.10am on Monday.
Police were originally unable to identify him following the incident, which happened about three-quarters of a mile from Church and Oswaldtwistle station, in the direction of Blackburn.
The stretch of track is described as being the railway bridge over the canal next to the A679 Blackburn Road.
British Transport Police, who are investigating the circumstances leading up to the man's death said it is not being treated as suspicious. Officers are now preparing a file to be handed over to the coroner. Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040.
