DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a series of indecent exposures in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle.

The most recent offence happened late on Friday, March 21 when police received a report of a man exposing himself at the window of a house in Oswaldtwistle.

There was a female occupant inside the room at the time who was  left "very distressed".

The man left the area and has not so far been traced. The  victim was only able to describe him as a white man.

There have been five similar offences in the last twelve months in the Accrington area.

All involve a man exposing himself at the ground floor window of houses that contain a female occupant. The other five offences were committed in and around the Church area of Accrington  in July .

All the  offences have been committed during the hours of darkness the earliest one being 8.30pm  and the latest being at 1am.

DS Tim McDermott, of East Division CID, said: “These offences must have been very disturbing for the victims and we are exploring all lines of enquiry to try the trace the

offender.

“The offences are all similar in that the nature of them is a man standing outside after dark with the victims inside a lit room.

"This has made it difficult for them to provide us with descriptions and we need the help of the local community to report anything they have seen that they feel was suspicious even if it’s something they didn’t report at the time but  now in hindsight feel may have been relevant.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140321- 1581 or anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.
