A cop discovered £1,000 of suspected amphetamine after stopping a car in Accrington.

The officer asked the driver of a black Renault Clio on Abbey Street to pull over on the morning of Friday, July 8 and found four ounces of the drug.

Police also found a white powder and drug paraphernalia during a search of two addresses on Richmond Hill Street, Accrington and The Grove, Oswaldtwistle.

A 33-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply amphetamine and were released from police custody pending further forensic enquiries.

DI Simon Upton said: “Tackling drugs is a key priority for the police and we will continue to do all we can to remove them and the misery they cause from our streets.

“I urge anyone with information about drugs to contact us so we can take action.”
