Police in Clayton-le-Moors executed a drugs warrant at an address on Barnes Street.

They seized a quantity of cannabis, scales and other drugs paraphernalia.  Officers recovered 10 sandwich bags full of cannabis bush from the raid, which took place on Friday as residents celebrated St George's Day in nearby Barnes Square.

Community beat manager PC Paul Pountain said: "This came about as a result of information received from the public. It was a significant seizure of cannabis and hopefully it demonstrates to people that we will listen to their concerns and take action."

A 24-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. He has been bailed until July pending further enquiries.
