Scooter owners are being urged to be extra vigilant following a spate of thefts in Rishton.

In the last two months, three 50cc mopeds were stolen from Chapel Street, Station Road and The Esplanade. On each occasion the mopeds had been left locked but had not been chained.

Officers are urging people to be to invest in a good quality chain or bike lock to deter thieves.

PCSO for Great Harwood Steve Charnley said: "Due to their light weight, scooters are an easy target for thieves and owners need to take extra measures to help protect themselves and their property.

"I urge people to chain their bikes to something secure such as a lamp post or leave them in a garage overnight. Anyone who sees anything suspicious should contact the police."

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
