A pop-up shop was set up at Accrington Market Hall featuring products made by school pupils.

Year 10 students at Hollins Technology College made a range of items over the past three months including phone cases, jewellery and trinket boxes and T-shirts.

The team of 14 youngsters designed and created the products for the social enterprise project using recycled materials and sold them to shoppers.

Waqar Ahmed, extended services coordinator at Hollins, said they made the items in lessons to help improve skills and confidence.

He said: “It’s a new educational experience and is quite innovative and pioneering and something most schools aren’t doing at the moment.

“We are really proud of everything they’ve achieved.

“All the proceeds will go towards activities for next year and we’re looking to do this annually.”
