Music lovers gathered in their hundreds to celebrate the annual Prom in the Park.

Around 200 people packed into Memorial Park in Great Harwood to enjoy picnics, wave flags and be entertained by Slaidburn Silver Band.

The popular event, now in its ninth year, was organised by the Friends of Memorial Park (FoMP) group and sponsored by ward councillor Ciaran Wells through the local members’ grant scheme.

Visitors enjoyed a two-hour performance by the band along with ice creams and picnics.

FoMP chairman Ian Wilkinson said everyone had a “great day” and the event was boosted with good weather.
