A TOWN centre pub will soon be open until 3am at weekends.
The Regency Bar on Church Street, Accrington, was granted permission to vary its licence and serve alcoholic drinks until 3am Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Consumption of alcohol in its new beer garden will also be allowed.
Hyndburn Council's Licen-sing Sub-Committee approved the application which was submitted by the pub's current licensee Lee Gregson.
The application was granted despite concerns from the environmental services department regarding a possible risk of noise nuisance to people living in the area.
The total number of people living in the immediate vicinity is not known but it is thought there is living space for around a dozen.
Police have attended no major incidents at the Regency under Mr Gregson's management, and they had no objections to the extension.
The Regency has already obtained planning permission to build a glass enclosure at the rear of its premises for a beer garden.
Originally, the variation application included an allowance for music to be played outdoors.
But environmental services opposed this change, due to noise nuisance, and after negotiations Mr Gregson agreed to drop this provision from the application.
After the meeting Mr Gregson said: "I am happy with the decision.
"We have had to give up a bit to get here but I'm happy with how it has turned out.
"Hopefully we will have the beer garden up and running soon."
The new beer garden should be complete sometime in October.
