The votes have been counted and the top three boozers in the Accrington Observer Pub of the Year 2010 can now be revealed.

The Griffin's Head, the Abbey and the Rose and Crown will now go under the scrutiny of our mystery drinkers to determine which hostelry lands the coveted top prize.

Thousands of you have cast your votes over the past six weeks and our competition has generated a real buzz across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.

Now the next stage of the competition is about to begin.

Our mystery drinkers will be judging the pubs over the course of this week and will award marks for factors such as range of products, welcome, link and the pub’s general appearance.

The marks will then be totted up and the winner announced in next week’s Accrington Observer.

And the fun doesn’t stop there for the top pub on our patch..

The winner will then be pitted against 16 other winners from our sister titles in a text vote to determine the overall winner of our competition, the Citylife Pub of the Year 2010.

Full details to follow in your Accrington Observer.
