A Brownie Queen is shown in this week’s top picture.

It was taken by Garth Dawson in 1977.

Garth said: “The picture was taken at St James’, Accrington, and shows the Brownie Queen with all her attendants and officials.”

Our next picture was taken by Garth in 1974.

He said: “It shows young members of Moss Hall Road playgroup including mothers and staff.”

Our final photograph this week is an aerial picture of the Whinney Hill brickworks in the 1950s.

Garth Dawson pictures for the Accrington Observer on August 7

Garth said: “The road across the base of the picture is the one from Huncoat to Clayton-le-Moors.”

Do you know the names of the Brownie Queen and her attendants, or maybe recognise people from the playgroup?

Why not let us know and send us your memories for our letters page?

We want to publish your old pictures.

They can be from any era up to the 1990s.

Please bring them to our Market Hall office or email them to accringtonobserver@menmedia.co.uk and tell us why they are important to you.
