A teenager suffered a suspected broken foot after falling off the back off his friend's scooter when it crashed in Huncoat yesterday.

The pair, both 19 and from Huncoat, had been riding through an alley before the scooter hit a stationary car.

Road policing officer Steve O'Boyle said the lad on the back of the scooter didn't have a helmet on.

He said: "Scooters are not designed to carry two people and the injured lad didn't have a helmet on. He was taken to hospital and had a cut to his lower leg. They have left themselves vulnerable and have been lucky. The lad driving had only just passed his test and we will be having a word with him in time," he added.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Tuesday, April 3 on Bluebell Way.
