A RAPIST who carried out two sex attacks on the same night has been warned that he faces years in jail.

Twenty-four-year-old Martin Eatough of Mitton Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to a series of offences when he appeared at Preston Crown Court.

He admitted charges of rape, attempted rape, kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence, and sexual assault.

The victims were two girls aged 15 and 19 who were attacked in June this year.

The 15-year-old told police she had been raped on derelict land in Blackburn.

The same night the other girl was making her way home from a nightclub when she was sexually assaulted.

The incidents are thought to have occured around 90 minutes apart.

At the hearing, Eatough pleaded not guilty to two further charges. These were allegations of rape and sexual assault on a third woman in April.

The defendant's pleas were accepted by the Crown. In due course, they will offer no evidence on the two charges he has denied.

Defence barrister Mr Nick Kennedy said Eatough was anxious to be sentenced immediately.

But judge Pamela Badley said the case would have to be adjourned so that a risk assessment can be carried out on the defendant, something the court considered important.

Eatough has been in custody for four months since his arrest in June.

The case was adjourned while a background report is drawn up by the probation service.

Eatough has been told he will have to sign on the sex offenders register.
