A SEX fiend who tormented his teenage victim in a bid to get her to drop the charges against him has been jailed for four years.
Rizwan Sarwar, of Willows Lane, Accrington, sexually assaulted and punched the 15-year-old girl as she walked through Bullough Park, Accrington. He also assaulted two other girls, aged 13 and 14, who tried to stop him.
He pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to three years for having sexual activity with a female under 16, sexual assault and common assault, and a further 12 months for witness intimidation.
The court was told Sarwar met the girl and had sex with her in the park on several occasions between July and September 2004.
The girl's mother contacted police and 29-year-old Sarwar was arrested but while he was on bail he approached the teenager in the park, off Willows Lane, and attacked her.
The court heard he sexually assaulted her and punched her in the face before two other girls intervened. He then turned on them, hitting them in the face with a rucksack.
Speaking after the court case, DC Susan Smith of Accrington CID said Sarwar was a threat to the community and the sentence would be a great relief to his victims.
