A rapist has been arrested for breach of his licence and will be returned to prison after handing himself in to police.
Gary Wolstenholme, 30, left an Accrington address on Tuesday, March 15, breaching the terms of his licence and was wanted for recall to prison.
The registered sex offender handed himself in to police in Blackpool on Wednesday, March 23 and will now be returned to jail.
Detective Inspector Stephen Dowson, head of Lancashire Constabulary’s Eastern Division Public Protection Unit, said: "I would like to thank the media for their assistance in helping to find Mr Wolstenholme.
"Sex offenders are managed in the community by police and partners, a system which aims to prevent them committing further offences, but if they do not comply with the obligations of their licence or Sex Offender Prevention Order, then we will take robust and positive action to locate them, as we did in this case."
Wolstenholme was jailed for eight years in 2003 after he was convicted of raping a woman he'd met outside a nightclub in St Annes. He was released on licence in 2010 after serving seven years of his sentence. His extended licence was due to expire in 2015.
