THERE is no horsing around for Sarah Lundy as the teenager looks to reach the top of her sport.

Showjumper Sarah, 18, will compete in Hickstead’s Royal International Horse Show after winning a prestigious event recently.

The former St Christopher’s High School - and her eight-year-old horse True Star - were the winning combination in the "Meter-10" section of the Key Price Garage-sponsored national tournament, which was at the David Broome event centre at Wales.

Sarah had to qualify for the final and faced 146 competitors in the the final three rounds.

All started at jumping heights of 1.10m with the final jump off at 1.25m.

Sarah said: "It was a very tough class with lots of competition and some good riders to contend with, so we went for it."

And it proved to be a success as she came out on top, won a sash, rug and prize money and will now compete at Hickstead, West Sussex in July.

Sarah has been mad about horses since she was a youngster and trains daily at the Croft Top equestrian centre in Rising Bridge.

Sarah said: "I‘ve always loved horses and started riding when I was three.

"I stared jumping at the age of eight and have been doing it every since. It’s very exciting."

She recently found success at the Blue Chip Championships in Haptbury Gloucestershire where she won the Tri Zone newcomers class.

And she is looking to add more rosette’s and trophies to her collection as this weekend she is competing at Chepstow three-day International Horse Show followed by the Warrington Horse Show over Bank Holiday weekend.

Sarah lives with her parents Elizabeth and Tony, and younger sister Victoria, 10, who is also a horse lover.

Sarah added: "Victoria rides as well but she also dances."

With Olympic-fever hitting much of the country this year, Sarah said she would love to ride in the Olympics - or follow Accrington’s other top showjumper Geoff Billington who won the Hickstead Derby last year and fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition.

But right now, Sarah is focused on more immediate competitions.

She said: "I want to do well at Hickstead and other shows. I just hope my success continues there.

"I am not thinking about any Olympics but would love to compete in them someday."
