ACCRINGTON Stanley have escaped a points deduction after being charged with fielding ineligible players.

ACCRINGTON Stanley have escaped a points deduction after being charged with fielding ineligible players.

But the Reds were fined £12,000 by the Football League with half of that sum suspended.

They had been charged with fielding two ineligible players, Chris McGrail and Martin Fearon.

A statement on Stanley's official website said that the club was "satisfied" with the outcome.

It added: "We may have been guilty of technicalities that breached regulations. But, we have never sought to cheat or circumvent the rules."
