SINGING sensation Diana Vickers wowed the X Factor judges once again last weekend. And more celebrities have said that Diana from Accrington is their favourite.

Last Saturday Diana sang Blondie’s Call Me and received rave reviews.

Judge Simon Cowell said: "You are proving yourself to be a very adaptable singer."

And Pop Idol winner Will Young and new Bond girl Gemma Arterton have said they adore the teenager.

But it was revealed yesterday that Diana won’t be able to switch on Accrington’s Christmas lights.

Hyndburn Council asked X Factor producers if the 17-year-old could return home for the big switch-on a week on Thursday. But X Factor officials confirmed it wasn’t possible due to scheduling commitments.

However Diana and the other X Factor contestants will be switching on the lights in London’s Oxford Street along with girl group the Sugababes and the cast of West End show Mamma Mia.

Council leader Peter Britcliffe said: "Obviously we are disappointed but we are delighted she will be able to help with the switch-on in London. Perhaps next year she will do the Accrington switch-on as winner of X Factor.

"Everyone in the Britcliffe house is voting for her and we will continue to do so."

X Factor producers Talkback Thames confirmed none of the contestants would be able to travel for individual publicity events.

Diana’s dad, Edwin, explained: "Diana is under contract with X Factor.

"I know she misses home from time to time but she is having a wonderful time in London."

And this week a spoof video featuring a Diana impersonator has become a YouTube hit.

The one-minute clip features Shea Taylor as Diana singing U2’s With Or Without You.

At one point, a pair of hairy feet rise up in front of her face.

Shea, 24, said: "The X Factor intro videos are so dramatic and over-the-top that they’re easy to make fun of. Diana is breathy and a bit wild, like Kate Bush. She’s got a unique voice on the show.

"People think our videos mean we don’t like the X Factor, but we love it. We can’t go out on a Saturday night until we’ve seen it. And Diana’s our favourite."

Shea and his comedy partner Steve Langstaff, 25, recorded the video in the living room of their Salford flat.

The video was watched by 5,000 people in four days.

Tomorrow night Diana and the other seven acts will be singing Mariah Carey hits.

X Factor will air at 7.20pm on ITV1 followed by the results show at 9.35pm.
