Stereo Kicks got a top 100 hit with their cover of the Backstreet Boys hit Backstreet’s Back at the weekend
Accrington singing sensation Reece Bibby survived a second sing off in two weeks in an explosive weekend on the X Factor.
Reece's band Stereo Kicks found themselves in the bottom two after performing Rock your Body by the Backstreet Boys on Saturday’s Halloween-themed show.
The band, mentored by Louis Walsh, were left stunned when they found themselves in the sing off for the second time, but survived a nailbiting finale with Cheryl's act Lola Saunders.
Reece’s dad Jamie said it was a draining weekend for everyone connected with the band.
He said: “It's been the most emotional weekend yet. We’re all feeling a bit down because we don’t really know what they did wrong.
“Their attitude is that they've got to be positive even though they weren't really strong in the sing off.
“They’re tired and it's taking a toll on all the acts, so hopefully they will come back fighting next week."
The performance won the boys praise from the judges, and earned them a top 100 hit with their cover of the Backstreet Boys hit Backstreet’s Back at the weekend.
Mel B said: “I found it a little bit aggressive but you killed it."
Cheryl said: “I thoroughly enjoyed that performance.”But their biggest praise came from Simon.
He said: “It's not Backstreet’s Back, it's Stereo Kicks are back. Last week was the first time it really came together, I now believe you as a group."
Despite praise from the judges, the boys found themselves in the bottom two with Lola.
The boys chose to sing Perfect by Pink for survival. T
heir wait to see if they had made it through was dragged out further when the judges could not split the acts and so the result went to 'deadlock'.
Eventually it was Lola who was sent home after receiving the fewest public votes.
The band took to Twitter to thank their 160,000 followers for keeping them in the competition and their votes.
Reece tweeted: “Thanks so much for all the messages of support, new start to a new week. “We will come back stronger and give it everything we've got.”
