THERE is still time for Hyndburn folk to put their best foot forward and support this year's grand charity walk which is set to go-ahead next month.
The event, which last year raised a whopping £65,000 for good causes is being organised by the Church and Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club with the backing of the Observer and will be held on Sunday 20 May.
Hundreds of people are expected to take part in the event which starts at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors and goes along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath, ending at Thompson Park, Burnley.
Last year 650 walkers took part to raise money for a variety of good causes including charities and sports clubs.
Rotarians plan the route and provide stewards but apart from a small entry fee to cover costs, every penny raised goes to the walkers' own good causes.
The 10-mile trek is also set to attract a number of famous names including TV soap star Julie Hesmondhalgh who plays Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street.
Michael Jackson, of Church and Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club, said: "There will be plenty of entertainment along the route and there will also be refreshment stops.
"We are planning a high-profile welcome for people on completion of the walk at Thompson Park where they will be greeted by a 20-piece band with many stewards urging the walkers on as they approach the finishing line.
"In addition a barbecue will be in operation in the park and there will be other items of interest including a miniature steam railway.
"With all this going on, why not come along and make the 20 May a memorable day for Hyndburn?"
